Fall Bass Fishing Lake James 🎣 Nice Smallmouth on a Chatterbait!

Early fall bass fishing on Lake James, North Carolina never disappoints! 🌅 With highs in the upper 70s and a crisp, calm morning start, the conditions were perfect to chase both largemouth and smallmouth bass.

We kicked things off on a main lake point where Ray kept his streak alive by boating the first fish of the day (as usual 😆). But the highlight came later when a hard-fighting smallmouth bass crushed my JackHammer chatterbait and gave us the best action of the trip. Let’s just say Ray’s net job made things… interesting—maybe he was rooting for the fish instead of me! 🤪

After that, the bite slowed down, but the fall vibes, good company, and beautiful Lake James scenery made it a trip worth sharing.
