Big Swim Baits Catch Big Largemouth Bass!!!! Is it a Myth or a fact??? In this series I challenge myself by fishing with big Swim Baits and Glide Baits.

Bass fishing with big swim baits and glide baits is the challenge for this Epic series where I hunt down monster bass. In the first episode of Size Up I do a bank fishing season out at Kloofzicht Lodge And Spar in search for those big swim bait eating bass.

I’m starting this challenge I have set for myself using smaller swim baits and glide baits to get some confidence and experience with the bait presentations.

Bait selection for this episode is a small segmented swim bait which was in a small blue gill profile with a bass pattern as it’s coloure. This bait is a little segmented swim bait with a very life like swimming action that even the smaller bass can’t resist.

The Berkley Nessi is another great bait in the big bait category. It is a 7 inch soft swim bait. It can be walked under the water and it has a very small glide action which most bass in south africa haven’t seen. The coloure of the Berkley Nessi is the Hickory shad, it is very similar to a trout pattern.

Kloofzicht lodge and Spar offers trout fishing in the winter time so in summer the trout are going to be lethargic and the bass can’t resist a easy meal.

The winner for the day was a 5.8 inch Keitech paddle tail swim bait in black. The water at Kloffzicht is alittle dirtier then other dams around Gauteng and the black coloure just stands out alittle more then other coloures. I paired this keitech up with a 6/0 weighted beast hook from owner.

This swim bait is really versatile because I was able to swim it in the mid water column and I could let it hit the bottom and I could crawl this swim bait on the bottom without worrying about it getting snagged.

The two swim bait largemouth bass that I did catch were both on the 5.8 inch paddle tail by Keitch.
One bass and one catch fish.

This mission of mine is going to be to achieve to catch bass from the bank of pond around gauteng.
