October Fishing on Lake Winnebago
October can be a great month to fish on Lake Winnebago. I’ve had October days where we’ve put more than 40 fish in the boat with a dozen plus walleyes.
On calm days the perch guys are out in full force. I’m not a perch guy. I still hit the shallows and cast plastics on jig heads and I’ll cast crawlers and drag them back to the boat.
A big weather pattern change happened two days ago so I wasn’t confident that I’d have a good day of catching. Since it was such a nice day though, I had to go out!
Overall it was slow. Only a couple of walleyes but some really HUGE drum aka sheephead. Plus a smallie that fought way bigger than it was hooked up. Smallies are so fun!
Come fishing with me! October can be awesome!
The water usually changes in the middle of October really turning the bite off. But I’ve had some really awesome days of catching in the first few weeks of October each year.
