Big Smallies – The Best Day of the Year!

Transition to September can be a great time for bass fishing.

I thought I struck gold with a 4.51 lb (19″) smallmouth… but later in the day I landed a new personal best at 5 lbs (20″)! On top of that, a bonus pike made for an unforgettable trip.

One thing I’ve thought over the years is that to get giant smallmouth bass you have to use big lures. In fact I found just the opposite.
