Pitchin' Junk Pile Largemouth Bass

Although no big fish were caught on this particular outing, pitching and flipping are still very productive techniques for big bass. No electronics needed when fishing this type of cover.
Basically keeping casts very short and dunking as many pockets as possible.
Heavy tackle is essential when fishing this heavy of cover otherwise landing fish will be almost impossible.
I use 50lb braid tied direct to a 1/2 , 3/4 or even a 1ounce flipping jig and trailer. Important to mention that even though I am using 50lb braid, you CANNOT ignore the fact that braid will fray and break offs can occur. Regular re-ties are important.
Tying direct in this type of cover will not affect your presentation in any way.
I’ll use a heavy fast action 7 foot rod, if not longer to be able to haul out bass from trees, Lilly pads, pencil reeds and super thick milfoil, coontail and cabbage weeds. Not to mention making boat flipping a breeze.
As mentioned in the video, be patient when pitching or flipping. Just cause the manufacture say ” its weedless ” does not mean that the bait will never get fowled up with weeds. The weed guard helps keep weeds off the hook but they do get wrapped around the head of the jig.
Same goes for brush piles. For the most part the jigs can be worked efficiently through a brush pile without getting hung but every once in a while…..
You have to give it a try. Feeling that thump on the line when a fish takes the bait is awesome.
