Overcast Topwater Bass Fishing

In this video, I had the chance to throw some of my favorite topwater lures at my favorite lake—with my favorite fishing buddy and my pup by my side.

A heat wave had just passed through Greensboro, and a cold front rolled in—bringing low 60s, steady wind, and cloud cover. I knew the bass would be fired up.

We followed the wind to our first spot, and my dad got bit almost immediately. Last time I fished that area, I stuck a 6-pounder on a frog on the very first cast. This time, I went with a buzzbait—partly because it makes more noise, but mostly because it covers water fast. That call paid off with two solid largemouth.
