Bass Fishing New Melones Lake California 06 25 2025

I hand-launched from the Angles Creek ramp and fished the Angels Creek branch. I caught about 25 fish. Here are 23 of them, including a few in the 3-3.5 lb range. I did not see another boat or shore fisherman the entire day. It was like I had the lake to myself. The Angles Creek ramp and parking lot are closed. I talked to the ranger about a month ago, and they are not planning on re-opening it because they do not have a way to keep trailered boats from launching. Kayaks are OK, but I had to drop it off at the locked gate and they hand-wheel it to the ramp (about 2300 feet – whew!). It was worth it. I caught almost all of them on a bladed jig in white and chartreuse.
