Bass Fishing Early Spring Floods

In today’s episode we fish a creek that had recently been flooded. The flood waters moved gravel beds and created new potential fish holding areas. The water was still murky and moving swiftly. This is why we chose to use crank baits. Fish are aggressive in these conditions but the current makes most baits to difficult to use. Lures like spinnerbaits, crank baits, and jerkbaits cut through the current and allows you to fish more effectively in areas other tackle would wash away. We also searched for areas with slack water. Slack water is the calm pools along stretches and usually around elevation changes in the creek. These areas can hold fish and often hold aggressively feeding fish. In this scenario the goal is to get the bait infront of the bass and they will do the rest.
