  1. I went from 27' on the retrieve to 36' and im having a little bit of a slump in my catch..i use the (reeldrag tip down) technique most of the time depending on the situation.. the ratio difference of my reel has changed my tech and i know im fishing the bait a little faster than i should and the video gives a mental picture of my mistake…. More time in the strike zone equals more fish, so now ill try just a touch more finesse .. very informative video for anglers that are green to a seasoned vet….if you have a swimming pool i suggest you practice your retrieve and tech here..just don't let the misses see ya😅….

  2. Showed me what I've been doing for the better part of 50yrs compared to what I thought I've been doing. Time to put some thinking into my game plan. It's going to be interesting to say the least. Thanks man, going this morning to get started. That's the justification I'm telling Angie.

  3. Great way to show how fast you might accidentally be fishing! I’m mostly an inshore guy and the best advice I ever received was, “when you think you’re fishing slow enough, fish half as slow”

  4. wow! definitely one of your best ever, and as we all know, on certain days, these are the subtleties that can make the difference in eliciting a strike..

  5. You constantly provide content like this video which shed light on the essential nuances of technique which make all the difference. Every video is a literal perspective unlike any other channel; I have learned so much. Everything we do at the point of the rod is amplified so much by the time it reaches the lure!

  6. Wow the way you explained that and showed us underwater footage is absolutely incredible. Thank you! Can’t wait to see what other videos you have. Keep up the good work sir!

  7. I primarily fish in rivers, so a little different, but analogous I think…

I use suspending crankbaits a lot and Carolina rigged plastics. I figured out several years ago that less is more. If my cast (“drift”) lasts say 30 seconds, my rod will only move the lure 5-6 inches TOTAL over the entirety of the cast. I’m talking from the time the lure hits the water to the time I’m reeling in because it’s washed downstream…5-6 inches.

Even if the fish want a more “aggressive” action, I’m using like 1” twitches to impart the action. I’m not jerking the jerkbait ever. And never sweeping the soft plastic…

The rod is primarily for picking up slack and setting the hook. I barely move my lures with my rod…seems to work for me…
