Bass fishing 40 degree water can be difficult but typically if you are throwing the right lures you can still catch a lot of bass.

When the water is cold one of the best things you can do is fish slow with subtle lures. Slow and subtle baits tend to get more bites than fast and aggressive lures.
One thing that I typically focus on is clear water. However, there are a few lures, like a sqaurebill and spinnerbait that I actually prefer to find some off color water to throw them in.
The biggest thing you can do is make sure you are safe when you are bass fishing 40 degree water, you don’t want to fall in!
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

. like this is new or good info …its not
When you rig your grubs on spinner baits do you rig the curl up or down ?
Ok, ill add one 1/8 black hair jig. High 30's into the 50's.
Thanks so much for this one. It’s getting pretty tough over here in Northwest Indiana

Weird, this video came up in my notifications, so of course I started playing. The whole time, thinking has Tyler lost his damn mind? Where in the country are you finding 40 degree water. Then it hit me. This video is over a year old. Well, that explains that. Now I feel dumb haha
Just the video I needed
Thanks Tyler , I live in southern w.v. it's February and the weather is crazy this time of year. I never know when to really start fishing. The temperatures right now are in the high 50's but I know that we can get a cold front at any time. I have seen snow as well. This time of year I just don't know what to do. Last year the lake I fish the fish were bedding already bedding and I got there a little late, but I hooked the largest bass of my life, unfortunately as I got her close to me,she did her last little jump and spit it out. I know people make a 4 pound into a 6 pound bass but this bass had to be at least 9lbs. She bent my hook, I cried buddy, no lie. This video will help me, thanks Tyler
plastic worm or jig should be on the list
Great selection
unfortunately I'm done till spring hear in Kansas. Unless I can go while I'm in Florida coming January through end of April. Thank you for sharing
Good stuff ! How about a small KT swimbait and hair jig ?
Condense your video content, I personally will not watch your videos as you are so long winded.
If you’ve got five lures you have had success using in cold water then just get to the point.
Or, did a lure manufacturer give you enough money to market their product?
Very helpful, thanks!
Oh, and I'll tell you the deal with those 'secret' blade bait bites. Vertical jigging is always best when you get the '1,2,3 rhythm' down. By that, I mean you lift it sharply, snapping it up off bottom ONCE (1) and the bass pops (and drops) it on the fall (1). Feeling the bite, you attempt to set the hook but fail because she's already dropped it. This is lift number two (2). Again, she pops and drops it on the fall (2). In a late hookset attempt, you connect with her on lift (and bite) number 3. I've experienced this SO MANY TIMES with Silver Buddies, Crippled Herrings, and Li'l Georges while vertical jigging for fall and winter bass that it has become my go-to method for vertical jigging. Once you experience this rhythm, you'll know. It WORKS!
What's the cadence on that jerkbait again? Jew, jew…jew? Or was it jew, jew, jew…jew, jew? How'd that go again? Sound effects-in HD!

I fish a …..Squirrel…..jerkbait..lol
Something is sneaking up on me like a
What colors do you find most of your success with when fishing the Lure Jensen Speed Traps?
The Rapala OG slim 06 and the OG tiny 04 are two more options of flat cranks that perform very well in water in the mid to low 50s and lower. I have not put the work in on the tiny 04 yet cause I just got it. Im sure its just as deadly as the slim 06. long story short when the water is cold this lure stays tied on. As they say it just flat catches em. ive had the big shad, helsinki shad, silver, and the red crawdad colors and have caught multiple fish on all.
Degrees F or C?
Came out of summer into fall then to spring as we simmer in the 80s with high pressure all within a month, Florida. Now I have no idea what the bass are going to hit.
Hey Tyler was wondering if you could do a video all about using the fritside crank bait. Have done a lot of reading about this lore would like to see it in action. Thanks for your time you’re the best
Baker Lures makes a suspending squarebill that is great in cold water.
Nice breakdown. One other thing to never not fish in cold water is a Shakeyhead. I've caught my PB Smallmouth twice the same day on a Shakeyhead. Also, a tube and a small beaver bait is very good in that colder water too.
What about the famous – Jig-n-Pig ? It will produce big fish bites in cold water.
30-40 degF water temps. Fishing for bass up here in the north but I keep catching Pike and Muskie. LoL
Thumbs up for the lost SD card
