3 Must Have Bass Fishing Combos!

Today I break down the 3 must have bass fishing combos every needs to have at their disposal to remain effective and efficient on the water!

What i use:
Combo 1
– 6’10 to 7’3 Medium Fast action Spinning rod
What I use – Zodias Spinning – https://goo.gl/yYvRqkI (N CANADA – https://goo.gl/a9RMZp)
– 2500-3000 size spinning reel
What I use NASCI 3000 – https://goo.gl/8eNwQd (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/Vs5WrT)
– 10-20lb braid to a 4-10lb fluorocarbon leader
What I use Power Pro (S8S V2 10lb) – https://goo.gl/LVr6en (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/5oNp2q)

Everyone needs a spinning set up! A sensitive set up with a smooth drag is important to detect bites and keep fish pinned on small hooks. You can throw anything from a drop shot, tube, weightless plastic to a spy bait.

Combo 2
– 7 – 7’3 Medium Heavy Fast action Casting rod
What I use – Zodias Casting – https://goo.gl/neSAMx (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/tC5vDu)
– 7 gear ratio Reel
What I use – SLX – https://goo.gl/5F7kT6
– 30lb Braid/12-17lb Fluorocarbon
What I use – Power Pro (S8S V2 30lb) – https://goo.gl/LVr6en (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/5oNp2q)

The first bait casting combo one should purchase; it does almost everything! Throw jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, texas rigs, swimbaits etc.

Combo 3
– 7’6 Heavy Fast Action Casting rod
What I use – Curado Casting – https://goo.gl/AbXdxM (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/d7HSVH)
– 8 gear ratio reel
What I use – Curado K – https://goo.gl/QrqS8x (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/d9bBWC)
– 50-65lb braid/15-20lb fluorocarbon
What I use – Power Pro (50lb) – https://goo.gl/LVr6en (IN CANADA – https://goo.gl/5oNp2q)

You will often find bass in heavy grass or any other sort of cover, having a heavy set up to throw texas rigs, jigs, frogs and other applications is a must have.

  1. Thank you so much for making this video and sharing the info! This is just what I needed to watch as I'm looking to buy a couple baitcaster reels for new rods I ordered that happened to be the same size rods you talked about!

  2. My question would be, if you could only have or buy one rod/ reel combo, what power/action/length would you choose i.e. what is the most versatile. So that you could use almost any lure/rig set up.

  3. Came back to check in.
Currently use my 7medlight zodias stradic fl dropshot rod/baby keitechs.
7'2" med zodiac for plastics/small frogs, jigs etc.
My 7' med or 6'8" med light zodias with stradic ci4+ 2500 or 1000 for whatever i like. Finally have all higher end combos 400$ is good for me. Expride is next.

  4. Very cool! Thanks for sharing your video. I'm getting back into Fishing this year! I have 2 Medium Heavy 7'0 Baitcast Combos and 1 6'9 Spinning Outfit. All by Fenwick! Looking into purchasing a 7'6 Heavy Action Baitcast Combo eventually for thick cover. The 2 Medium Heavy Baitcast Combos will be my Multipurpose rods. The Spinning Combo will be my Finesse stuff. Can't wait to get back to it!

  5. Great stuff. I agree for sure.
I myself have only 2 setups, and both cost me around $100 (I like to keep it cheap 😂 they're quality setups for only $100 though); one medium heavy w/ a baitcaster and one medium w/ a spinning reel.
Really looking into investing into a heavy setup whenever I get the chance though because the thickest cover always looks so juicy!

  6. Great combo recommendations! I would/might add a Combo 4 for super finesse….either an ultralight spinning setup or a BFS rod and reel. I'm beginning to prefer the finesse techniques over power fishing since bites are almost always guaranteed with smaller presentations. Keep up your great work!

  7. Amazed at your knowledge and videos.
Just bought a slx baitcaster and for the price point dont think you could complain. However i am really wanting to splurge on one and considering the Shimano Metanium MGL baitcast reel.
Any comments on this reel would be appreciated.
    Thanks !

  8. That was a great and needed idea for a video. I will bet you helped a bunch of people today. It can also be given to mom and dad to watch , so they buy you the right stuff for christmas. If you are just staring out.

  9. Ladybass, thank you for another informative and professionally presented video. I now own a medium heavy casting outfit, particularly a 6th Sense 7'2" moderate fast Lux rod which they consider to be a crankbait rod I, however, and you're more than welcome to correct me if you think, that I'm wrong, but I see the moderate-fast action as being more versatile in application than a fast or an extra-fast rod though these have their place. The reel, that I chose was a Lew's Tournament MB with a 7.5:1 ratio which, pretty much fits in with what you recommend. Before I end this, may you and yours have a Happy Holiday and keep casting!
