How To

3 Jig Fishing Tricks To Catch Bigger Bass This Summer! Beginner To Advanced!

Summer jig fishing is a great way to catch big bass! In today’s video Matt starts off by simplifying jig fishing for the angler that just wants to build confidence in the technique. He demonstrates jig retrieves before diving in depth into how to adapt your jigs to changing conditions, how to stroke a jig, and how to adapt trailers for Summer bass fishing.

Jig fishing is one of those techniques you can dive as deep into as you want. It can be as simple as a single jig in a great color that you use effectively throughout the year or it can be taken to a whole different level. It can also be taken to the max with different styles, colors, and retrieves. Stroking is a prime example of how a jig can be adapted to get bigger bites. In today’s video Matt explains how to stroke a jig then takes it a step further and shows a simpler way to adapt the technique when fishing flats.

Its up to you to decide how in depth you want to take your jig fishing. Below is a breakdown of the baits, trailers, and colors Matt discussed in the video. He also included the jig combo he was using as well as a few alternatives at different price points. 1. BTW "Tacticalbassin" has got to be one of the best (if not the best,) fishing channels on YouTube. Between them and Bass HQ. Great info for beginners and pros!

  2. I want to thank you for th3 helpful tips in fishing a jig. I went out this morning and decided to fish with a finesse jig and caught bass all morning long , this is the second time I've ever used a jig and used your double bounce technique and helped alot

  3. If we like the video? We love the videos, Matt. You are the master bass educator. I'm 81 and still have a thirst for more. You and Tim always provide the best teaching available anywhere and it's FREE. Best deal ever, thank you.

  4. I have two go to jigs,,both are by Strike King,, first is the 1/4 oz BitsyBug w/a chunk trailer and 2nd is the 1/2 oz Denny Brauer flipping jig with a Strike King rage craw,,, they'll catch bass anywhere in the nation…

  5. I prefer jigs with lots of bulk but in a small profile. Like the missile baits micro finesse jig or the war eagle heavy finesse jigs. The jewel baits spider jig is killer as well.

  6. Man watching these videos has taken from clueless bass fisherman to getting 7lb largemouth in Florida. Nobody can explain these things as well as tactical bassin and it’s translated to more fish.

  7. Matt and Tim, please consider a video focused on the big bass that STAY SHALLOW as summer comes. I'm in the Midwest fishing from shore in small natural bodies of water. However, in YouTube I am seeing lots of videos across Manu channels about deep water legde fishing far offshore in southern reservoirs. It looks interesting, but those videos pertains to me the same as saltwater tarpon fishing videos.

  8. So glad you guys are in Tennessee…. if you want a challenge come up north couple hours to Norris lake aka “Dead Sea” I’d love to see how you guys fish it.

  9. Caught my fuckin new pb yesterday on a blue and black football jig with a Berkeley jester craw in green pumpkin. Right at 10 I need a digital scale, massive for Colorado. 1lb 2oz off state record.

  10. Great Video Again Guys!! You inspired me to start filming some of my bass fishing adventures! If anyone is interested please give them a watch and think about subscribing! Being a new channel, It would mean more than you know to me!

  11. Popping the shit out of that jig lol. Guess it depends on your rod size and weight on how hard or soft you need to pop it off the bottom before your retrieve

  12. Thanks guys, ever since I started bass fishing I’ve bought items you’ve recommended and everyone has hands down worked for me! Things I went out and bought on my own, never do lol. thanks again!

  13. off subject here…I don't recall you guys ever talking about "solunar tables" in past videos (or if you did I missed it). Thoughts on the tables and do you consider them at all when fishing? Have you, in your years of fishing, ever found them to be useful? good luck and best wishes on the move east! Love your channel!!!

  14. Can we please STOP with the lures that will catch the bass! Please move to locating the bass – more often than not if you FIND them they will eat. How do we FIND them?

  15. @TacticalBassin … you guys should do a "whats rigged up on our deck" video! Would love to see what your line up is given conditions and season.

  16. I’m in the market for a new all around jig and worm rod. I’ve narrowed it down to these 3 rods. GLX 853C JWR, GLX 854C JWR, and GLX 843C MBR. Which of these three do you think would be my best choice. I mainly fish with no heavier than a 1/2 oz jig. But I do throw up to a 10 1/2 inch worm every once in a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, and keep these awesome videos a rollin in!

  17. Awesome as always Matt. Looking forward to your videos at the new digs. Got any tips for a guy looking to relocate to the Tennessee or Alabama area?

  18. So Matt, I love this video; however do you use the same techniques when fishing from a kayak? Not a bass boat owner yet? Thanks for your help.
