2026 Rapala BASS Pro Series | Molix Wivehoe Dam Winner's Interview with Steve Morgan & Justin Commys

The final qualifying round of the 2026 Rapala BASS Pro Series delivered some quality winter bass fishing at Wivenhoe Dam, with Steve Morgan taking out the Boater Division and Justin Commys securing the Non-Boater victory at the Molix-sponsored round.

Justin put himself right in contention on Day One, fishing with Mick Horn and weighing a three-fish bag of more than 6kg. Plastics and 27g Wasabi spoons produced the goods before a change of boat and technique on Day Two saw him turn to long-lining deep-diving crankbaits. He managed just two fish for the session, but at nearly 3.5kg combined, they were the quality bites he needed to secure the win.

For Steve Morgan, the tournament was all about adapting. After expecting the small-bait, forward-facing sonar approach that had worked at Somerset to again be the key, Steve quickly discovered the Wivenhoe bass wanted something bigger.

The breakthrough came with a 4-inch Rapala CrushCity Freeloader rigged on a 3/8oz jighead. Targeting bass holding around large bait schools in 15–30ft of water with forward-facing sonar, Steve weighed more than 10kg on Day One before backing it up with 9.2kg on Day Two, the heaviest bag of the final session.

The Wivenhoe round also marked the final qualifying event of the 2026 season, setting the field for the Rapala BASS Pro Series Grand Final at Glenbawn Dam in October.
