Hey guys, I wanted to bring you some footage I got earlier this year from a topwater bite with some fish in the 35-40 pound class. This bite was cool because you had to reach the fish, present a profile similar to the small (tinker) mackerel they were feeding on, and your retrieve cadence had to be on point for them to take the plug. This bite kicked off at the end of a West dropping tide, so there’s little to no current. This plays a big role on how I fought these fish and I went pretty hard on them in order to control them and keep the guys next to me fishing.
This all comes back to gear choices, common courtesy and why I run the setup I do. You don’t want to be “that guy” with the noodle stick and 20lb braid that shuts down a quarter mile of the shore because you can’t turn a 20lb fish. Gear up appropriately, control your fish, especially when there’s little to no current, and the guys next to you will be much happier!

Hey Dan, just had a question on how you like the Maxquatro braid. I’ve been trying to pick between that and cortland masterbraid. Just wanted to get your preference on it.
what a setup man!
Goo goo man plugs by Glen are my go to. I have a room full of them.
Nice catches but not the best fights with that ultra heavy setup
Great Job! We see the big fish. Now let's try to keep it alive, please. They say when big fish like that are caught at least 50% die after release.
Thank you for taking us along
love the video keep up the good work!
Absolute killer beautiful rig. Nice fish
Sup Dan what do you think about the slingshot 1328 by century rod paired with a 2020 Saltiga 10k for the canal ?
Dan…No knew videos coming out on the ditch.?I was there last week and fished a few mornings and picked up one blue and a schoolie and that’s it.Using the the ODM 3 to 8 oz rod you recommended.Only saw surface action that one morning.
That rod setup costs more than my car
Those were cows
How will you recommend jig the canal ?
I watch people doing slow with aggressive pulls, and other people doing fast without being aggressive on the pulls ?
This fellas doesn't mess around bringing a fish in !!
Which power knob is that, and where did you get it?
Bra Gotta say I love the Action on that rod

Def great Mix Of light action at the end but it's got Backbone

nice rockfish man where is this spot located at!!
DUDE this vid is the She-hizzle
Dam. that rod looks awesome also. I hit the subscribe just on seeing this vid alone
You can accomplish the same exact thing for 100 bucks. You don't need custome gear or tackke….
I hate fishing from shore never understood it i would just buy a cheap bay boat over casting from shore. Am I missing something? I’m asking that literally I’m interested
So sick
Hey Dan. Have you ever tried using a 20' Saragosa paired with the jigster? Many recommend the 8k and 10k models. Wondering your thoughts on the 14k, having similar/same spool size and retrieve speed as the 19' Stellas. For both jigging + plugging. Thanks man for providing the knowledge with your videos.
Nice fish. I had my only chance to fish the Canal in Oct. 2019. Was too late for any real action but it was the tail end of a business trip and I enjoyed being there. There's a reason it's called fishing instead of catching. You don't always catch one.
Beautiful
Great looking rod. What is the power and action?
where can i buy the same top water lure At 1:30 mark?
Big stripers have a 40% survival rate when you hang them by the lip and hold them horizontally.
