I have only had luck drop shotting the gilly. Every time I try to Texas rig and work it like a swim bait it tilts sideways and looks bad so I’ll have to try Ike’s new tips.
Awesome with a small octopus hook in that spring also and a belly weight pushed in.
The gilly is killer just side rigged with a nail weight in the belly

No one is keeping these a secret. I made a video over a year ago on social media and YouTube showing people how to nose rig it. Most of us who have been fishing this bait consistently have been rigging it this way since the beginning.
Been runnin Gilly's as a trailer on my chatters. I don't want to fish it any other way now. Make sure to use super glue.
The gilly has been the biggest disappointment lure for me. Hopefully I have better luck with these tips.
The Gilly on a Scrounger Rig is deadly. The medium sized is my favorite on a naked Chatter bait. Deadly at night

Thanks my G giving them styles a try . i have been rigging Ned jigs straight up through the cavity hole in the top almost makes it weed less works wonders on these gilleys they swim straight , but when you kill it , they spiral down to the bottom like a dying bait fish. nonetheless the gilli is straight ⛽️ 93
