$180 LURE Catches Fish On First Cast After THIS MOD!! Rigging New Baits || Swimbait Sessions 3

Welcome back to Swimbait Session #3! It’s been a little while since Billy Baits and myself have been out to toss some big baits and I’m happy to share a new video with you guys.
Billy was focusing on his new Hiroshima Customs Trout, which is a 4.5oz 8” glide bait and I was whipping the Defiant 210 around for a good portion of the day. We go over setting up the Defiant with it’s line through system and Billy shares a pretty sweet rigging tip to get those glides a bit deeper for suspended Summer time fish.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video, all the links are down below, don’t forget to check em out!
Let me know if there are any specific baits you’d like to see us fish in the comment section below and we’ll get around to filming a video on them.

  1. Probably a little late on the comment here but here goes anyway! Great channel, try to keep your audiences interest by instructing while fishing not just narration. Too easy to lose the channel flippers this way, lol. Get your hands on some Spro 6” & 8” swimbaits! Easy and inexpensive to fish, super effective! Same with Hudds! Both easy to come by for your average weekend warriors! Only fish SB’s on swimbait shows! You must convey to new users the importance of dedication to learning to fish SB’s comes from not switching to standard gear. After you sweep your hookset, keep your rod at the 10 o’clock position to fight it, you’ll lose fewer fish getting to the boat. If your not using fluoro for your line leader, you should be. With big baits fishing for big fish you have to make the best out of every opportunity. Use at least 18” of a good fluoro attached with a Uni-Uni knot to your favorite braid and you’ll be in business. Dab on some fluid crazy glue on the knot to improve guide pass through and overall knot wear reduction. Lastly, the dog days of summer require early and late fishing to be successful. Warm water drives the fish deep or to be mostly sedentary because there’s less oxygen in the water. Just about have to bonk the fish on the head with your bait to be successful, lol. Be on the water an hour before first light and two hours before last light and you’ll do better than during the day. Better still, night fish for some of the best, most exciting fishing you’ve ever tried! Especially with big top water baits. Might want to also consider inviting “guest” fishing partners with particular SB fishing expertise, even if they’re just accomplished musky fisherman; many of the techniques are very similar or the same. I’ve fished swimbaits for a very long time and have learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t. Hope this helps!

  2. Hey man. Great video. I’ve been searching for the “heroes” trout swimbait with no luck. Any suggestions? Not even Tackle Warehouse. Can you help me out? Thanks.

  3. Something that large and costly may do well to set up for trolling. I've caught a lot of pike fishing with a 4" Rapala while trolling. Wonder if it would work for this bait trolling over grass or rocks.

  4. Great vid. I've been looking at the defiant baits also. They look really good. You might be able to get a bite if you add scent next time, because of the slow presentation. Good luck!

  5. If you've yet to watch any of oliver's videos, and you're into swim bait fishing, he's must see tv. He's got "cast to catch" clips you will not believe. He's also very much into the history of big bait fishing in CA and fishing in general. He shares his knowledge and experience and holds nothing back. Top notch. The new defiant Matt has won't put much of a dent in Oliver's supply. But the gesture shows what kind of guy he is. Keep throwing em Matt!

  6. Another excellent video, dadio! You continue to strike the perfect balance of action and instruction, with top notch editing and sound. Keep it up, brother, you are KILLING IT. It was great meeting you on the rez the other day.

  7. Those baits are sick dude! Somewhat surprised by not moving more fish but the heat has been a bit more intense (water temps up). Curious to see how that one does on the 'skie trip. Be Safe
