What pound line you use? A decent knot shouldn’t have broke, don’t set the hook so hard on a good fish if you’re using lighter line. Nice fish tho

Man this is why here in GA I use nothing but straight braid literally , I mean like on 99% of my setups no leader unless it's absulutly crystal clear and even then I'm not convinced I NEED it . I have maybe 2 rods with copoly and flouro the rest I run straight 20-50lb braid on , never broke off a fish besides a huge cat on 20lb under some logs , other then that worst vase scenario you bend a hook out , I got caught up in the flouro or braid with leader BS and I seen zero I mean zero advantage or more fish from flouro over straight braid , if fish cared that much about line then the hooks would scare em off

I grew up fishing a pond that had a bass in it that I hooked maybe 15 times in a span of 6-7 years. I don’t know how much it weighed but if I had to guess, 8-12lbs. My PB is 6.2 and it was at least 3-4lbs bigger. I broke off every single time, that’s why I don’t use Mono anymore lol
