For me, large hula poppers catch many solid 3 pounders
You do not have to jerk each bass ever on each video that you have ever made clear out of the daggone water the way that you do you younger guys it does not take that much to hooksett a bass

I seen a mini hula popper I thought about trying for panfish the other day
Don't doubt the effectiveness of the classic arbogast lures
I know this vis is like super old and your probably not gonna see this but I use the popper constantly. The trick is to use a light action rod and reel . No more than 6 or 8 pound test. Spinning gear. Plus the hula is one of the few finesse topwater. Pop it once than flutter the bait in the water. Let those bass see that bait good. Then repeat.
My dad LOVED Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers I remember his tackle box had several of both in it (My dad would be 98 years old now if he was still alive)
My great grandpa just passed away and I found his hula popper from the 50s, it doesn't have a skirt on it anymore but it still works like a charm
Dude I've actually be absolutely SLAYING this year on the same color jitterbug but it's a 3 and a half inch jointed one. And man leme tell u it's been out performing frogs buzz baits whopper ploppers. It's been outperforming all other top waters I put my hands on this year. I actually absolutely LOVE that lure.. and u can work it many different ways as well if there not wanting it one way then try another.. that things a lit bait!
